What it is
Attention is constantly pulled away from the present moment: toward memories, anticipation, mental noise, internal dialogue, and unfinished tension.
Presence is not a mystical state.
It is the ability to fully arrive in what is happening now.
This practice strengthens the capacity to remain connected to the present instead of continuously disappearing into mental activity.
The practice
Several times today, gently pause and ask:
Where am I right now?
What can I hear?
What can I feel in my body?
What is happening in this exact moment?
Do not search for a special experience.
Presence is often quiet and simple. A breath. A sound. The feeling of your feet touching the ground.
The practice is not to escape life, but to return to it.
